Gardens That Please Both People AND Pollinators

  • Reems Creek Nursery 76 Monticello Road Asheville, NC, 28803 United States (map)

Pollinator gardens sometimes get a bad rap for being “too messy” or “unattractive.” This class explores landscaping tricks that will satisfy even the strictest Homeowners Association guidelines while limiting lawns, creating connected habitat, welcoming a wide variety of pollinators, and persuading neighbors to join in the fun. For anyone considering becoming a Certified Pollinator Advocate through Bee City USA-Asheville & the Asheville Botanical Garden, this is the class that Amy teaches for that series.

Amy Fahmy is a licensed landscape architect with extensive horticultural knowledge. She has gardened for Plant Delights Nursery, Richmond Hill Inn and The Biltmore Estate. She is a certified professional plantsman, a certified permaculture designer, and a registered Landscape Contractor with 30 years of hands-on gardening experience. For the last 14 years she has managed a wide range of fine garden design commissions at Sitework Studios Landscape Architecture Studio in Asheville. She is currently transforming her own garden to include more native plants for pollinators.
